Sekhar Kar (b 1961)
Sekhar Kar studied at the Rabindra Bharati University. He has had ten solo shows and has participated in over a hundred group exhibitions including at some of the very prestigious galleries in India like the Vadhera Art Gallery (Delhi) and the Jehangir Art Gallery (Mumbai). He has also won numerous awards from well-known art academy?s and institutions.
Kar's paintings depict men and women in swirling masses of color with cesspools of emptiness for eyes. This allows the viewers the freedom to interpret the emotions depicted in a variety of ways, though the overall painting is bathed in sadness and mystery.
