Vinod Sharma was born in 1953. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the College of Arts, New Delhi in 1976, and his Master of Fine Arts from M.S. University, Baroda in 1978.
Vinod Sharma is deeply fascinated by the land, and his depictions encompass both the visible and the invisible, the told and the untold. Immersed in his subjects, he does not merely represent natural beauty; he conveys a profound understanding of it.
Much like eighteenth- and nineteenth-century artists who used exquisite landscapes to present grand narratives and explore philosophical ideas, Sharma employs the land as a medium to investigate metaphors, capture the sublime, challenge traditions, reveal conflicts, and bring forward the myriad untold stories of the natural spaces we inhabit. Though his techniques are rooted in tradition, he delves deeply into the meaning of depicting the land, addressing both its beauty and pressing contemporary issues.
These compelling works emerge from the combination of a skilled hand, a discerning eye, and a profound empathy for his subject.
