About Sekhar Kar

Sekhar Kar studied at the Rabindra Bharati University. He has had ten solo shows and has participated in over a hundred group exhibitions, including at galleries in India such as the Vadhera Art Gallery (Delhi) and the Jehangir Art Gallery (Mumbai). He has also won numerous awards from well-known art academies and institutions.

Kar's paintings depict men and women in swirling masses of colour with cesspools of emptiness for eyes. This allows viewers the freedom to interpret the emotions depicted in a variety of ways, though the overall painting is bathed in sadness and mystery.
