About this work
Mixed media, from 2017. Foliage and undergrowth are a recurring subject in Jayashree Chakravarty's landscape practice, built from organic and salvaged natural materials layered onto paper and canvas. The technique traces back to her 1993–95 residency at Aix-en-Provence, where she began developing the tearing, staining and layering methods that define her mature work.
