About this work
Panchamukha is painted in acrylic and oil on canvas, dated 2021 and sized 61 × 61 cm. Its title, meaning "five-faced" — an epithet more often used for a deity — sits oddly with its catalogued Flower subject, unlike the two more directly named devotional works Ganapati Hedge made the same year, Radha Krishna and Vedamatha.
Ganapati Hedge
Ganapati Hedge obtained a Diploma in Art from the Ken School of Art, Bachelor of Art from Karnataka University and Master's in Fine Arts from Bengaluru Open University. In his bid to connect with nature, Ganapati juxtaposes the behavioural aspects of human beings with animal postures and characteristics.
