How to buy

Every work on Artshoppy is priced on its page, apart from a few marked Price on request. This page explains how to buy one, first for a delivery address in India and then for one abroad.

Before you buy

Look closely

Each artwork page gives the artist, medium, dimensions (height × width, in centimetres and inches) and the price. On the Wall shows the work hanging in a room at true scale. You can also preview frames there, but framing is not sold at checkout; see Framing below.

Ask

Ask about this work sits on every artwork page. It lets you write to the gallery or message us on WhatsApp for condition photographs, a closer photograph of a detail, the back of the canvas, or a shipping quote. The gallery replies within 2 working days (Monday to Saturday, 10am to 7pm IST).

Prices and GST

Prices are shown in Indian rupees and before GST.

  • For delivery in India, GST is added at checkout: 5 % on works of art and 0 % on books. A work listed at ₹70,000 costs ₹73,500 delivered in India.

Delivery is free to any address in India.

Price on request

A work marked Price on request has no price on its page. Use Ask about this work and the gallery will reply with the price and the terms.

Offers

Make an offer lets you propose a price on a work that allows it, from 70 % of the asking price; the gallery does not accept an offer below that floor. Use Ask about this work to make one. An offer is a conversation, not a contract — it commits neither side, and the gallery may accept, counter or decline any offer without giving a reason. If the gallery accepts, it reserves the work for you for 72 hours and emails you a payment link good for exactly that period; while the reservation holds, the work shows as Reserved and nobody else can buy it. If the 72 hours pass without an order, the reservation lifts, the link and the agreed price stop working, and the work returns to the gallery at its listed price. Apart from an accepted offer, the gallery does not hold a work for anyone: it belongs to whoever completes an order for it first.

Buying for delivery in India

  1. Choose Add to cart on the artwork page. Each original is a single object, so the cart holds one of each.
  2. Check out with your delivery address. You can check out as a guest or with an account; an account keeps your orders and the artists you follow in one place.
  3. Choose how to pay. Cash on Delivery is how you pay today, for Indian addresses, with no upper order value. Payment at the door is in cash; the courier does not accept card or UPI.
  4. The gallery confirms the order by email. The work is dispatched within 48 hours of the order being confirmed.

You can collect your work from the gallery in Kolkata — arrange it with us on +91 99039 71710 or support@artshoppy.com. Collection is from Ground Floor, 34/1G Ballygunge Circular Road, Kolkata 700019, West Bengal, India.

Buying from outside India

Checkout is not available if you are outside India, but delivery is: write to the gallery on WhatsApp at +91 99039 71710 or at support@artshoppy.com to ask about a work. Once you agree a price, the gallery raises the order for you and quotes delivery together with it, since the cost depends on the work's size, weight and destination.

International shipments travel delivered duty unpaid (DDU): you pay your own country's import duty, VAT, GST or sales tax on arrival, and the gallery cannot tell you this amount in advance or refund it. If a charge is refused and the shipment is returned to Kolkata, you pay the return freight. A refund on a cancelled or returned order is made in Indian rupees.

Works that cannot leave India

Fourteen works in the gallery are National Art Treasures under the Antiquities and Art Treasures Act, 1972. They cannot be exported. A buyer abroad may still buy one, but it must be delivered to an address in India and stay in India. The notice appears on each of those works' pages.

Currency

The store's prices and orders are in Indian rupees. If your card or bank converts the payment, your bank sets the exchange rate and any fee.

After you buy

  • Certificate of authenticity. Every original is issued with a certificate of authenticity. The gallery emails you a PDF copy of the certificate, and the signed original travels with the work.
  • Your account keeps your orders and the artists you follow.
  • If something is wrong on arrival, see Returns and cancellation.

Framing

Works are shipped unframed unless the page says otherwise. On the Wall lets you try frames against the work. If you want the gallery to frame a work before it ships, ask and it will send a quote; framing is not added at checkout.
