About this work
Mixed media on paper, undated. Trees and foliage recur throughout Jayashree Chakravarty's landscape practice, built from layered, torn and stained organic paper and salvaged natural material — a technique she developed following her 1993–95 residency at Aix-en-Provence, where the French Supports/Surfaces movement shaped her approach to surface and process.

Jayashree Chakravarty was born in Tripura in 1956. She completed her Bachelor's in Fine Arts from Viswa Bharati in Santiniketan, and then obtained her postgraduate diploma in Fine Arts from MS University of Baroda, where she was exposed to an urban sensibility.
