About this work

Untitled (Mermaid) is painted in watercolour on board, dated 2015 and sized 30 × 30 cm, catalogued as Fantasy under a Still Life subject. The mermaid subject fits Jayasri Burman's recurring practice of blending Hindu mythology with hybrid, part-human figures drawn from the Kalighat and Patachitra folk traditions.
