About this work

Mejh Da is cast in bronze, dated 2018 and sized 116 × 46 cm — the only sculpture among Lalu Prasad Shaw's five works in this catalogue, the rest tempera paintings on board. Its title, Bengali for "middle brother", fits the everyday, familial genre — the Babu-Bibi scenes of ordinary Bengali life — Shaw is best known for in tempera.
