About this work
Watercolour landscape by Paresh Maity, painted in 1995. The work falls within the early years of a practice built first around watercolour, before Maity expanded into oil, acrylic, mixed media and sculpture in later decades. The subject follows the landscape and sea-and-sky themes he has returned to throughout his career.
Paresh Maity
Paresh Maity was born in 1965 in Tamluk, a small town in West Bengal of great antiquity with a remarkable heritage of terracotta art. While in school he made clay images of gods and goddesses and sold them to earn money for his education.
