About this work

Twisted Figure is an acrylic on paper board from 2011, a single human figure rendered in a contorted pose. Lahiri developed a mode of contorted human figuration in bold line and raw colour over her long Kolkata career, and this work sits squarely within that vocabulary.

Shanu Lahiri

Shanu Lahiri (1928-2013) was a student of the Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata. She was the first student of the college to receive the AIFACS President's Gold Medal.
