About this work

Babu is painted in acrylic on the reverse of an acrylic sheet, 91 × 30 cm, dated 2021, a single-figure companion panel to Bibi from the same year and set. Babu, one half of Shyamal Mukherjee's recurring couple, appears throughout his paintings in a sensuous, humorous, contemporary idiom.
