About this work

Bibi is painted in acrylic on the reverse of an acrylic sheet, 91 × 30 cm, dated 2021, a single-figure panel from the same set as the artist's other 2021 Babu-and-Bibi works. Bibi, one half of Shyamal Mukherjee's recurring couple, appears throughout his paintings carrying the Bengal School's figurative tradition forward.
