Pradip Maitra (b 1959)

Pradip Maitra studied at the Indian College of Art & Draughtsmanship,Kolkata. At the art college he was taught by Gopal Sanyal who was Pradip's great supporter. However,the artist who influenced & guided Pradip the most was Bikash Bhattacharya & much later,Shymal Dutta Ray. A master handler in both watercolour & oil,Maitra is a modernist artist trapped in a post-modernist age.

A member of The Society of Contemporary Artists,his works can be found in the permanent collections of The National Gallery of Modern Art,New Delhi;Governor's House,Orissa;Reliance Industries Ltd,Mumbai;Hyderabad Museum,Hyderabad;Osian's Mumbai;Lancashire University,UK
